Meet Carlyn van Dyk.
Nursing experience.
Explained with a family’s needs in mind.
Families are often suddenly expected to care for a parent without knowing what to prepare, which products may help or what questions to ask.
Carlyn’s role at Age at Home is to translate practical nursing experience into understandable guidance families can use in everyday life.
Experience that informs the everyday questions.
Carlyn’s nursing background includes a four-year nursing diploma and experience across primary health care, orthopaedic and hospital nursing. Her work has included wound care, monitoring people with chronic illnesses and providing health education.
Her experience at Intercare Tyger Valley includes everyday primary-care procedures, wound care, chronic-illness monitoring and patient education.
Her nursing history includes neuro-orthopaedic care at Cape Gate Mediclinic and orthopaedic surgery nursing at Vincent Pallotti, alongside earlier hospital roles.
Her supporting records include professional development in orthopaedic nursing, infection control, pharmacology and pain management.
Carlyn also brings personal family experience of living with diabetes, alongside participation in diabetes education activities. That experience informs her appreciation for the questions families carry home.
A helping hand with understanding.
Age at Home’s guidance is educational. Carlyn can help explain everyday care questions and product information, while individual diagnosis, treatment and care plans remain with your parent’s healthcare team.
Her approach starts with dignity, the person’s remaining independence and practical changes that help the whole family.
