Measure the shower floor, not only the enclosure. Allow for a sloping floor, door swing, taps, a handheld shower and space for the person helping. All feet need to rest securely as the manufacturer directs.
Check seat width, depth, height range and weight limit. A chair that fits the room still needs to fit the person.
The seated part is only one step. Consider the shower entrance, how your parent turns and sits, and how they stand afterwards. Do not improvise lifting or transfer techniques; ask for hands-on instruction.
Set out soap, a towel and clean clothing beforehand. Check water temperature, privacy and whether assistance is needed. Inspect the chair and its feet, and clean it according to the supplied instructions.
